Borger Jensen
Borger Gabriel Jensen Calderón was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Since early childhood, he felt a strong attraction to drawing, and during adolescence, he discovered a passion for painting as well. This artistic inclination was a natural gift passed down through his genes; his Danish and German ancestry included fathers and grandparents who also engaged in drawing, painting, and sculpting.
In 2004, just turned 19 years old, Borger Gabriel decides to dedicate himself to Fine Arts. His first classes were with his own father, who taught him the technical foundations and how to let go with the imagination of automatism. Months later, he took private lessons with other recognized teachers and artists. He also attended classes in Drawing, Oil Painting, Printmaking, Airbrushing, and Sculpture at the School of Fine Arts of the University of Guadalajara.
In 2006, at the age of 21, Gabriel began painting in his own innovative style, characterized by
Being very free, expressive, and detailed. Some experts have defined his style as abstract, expressionist, figurative, and even surrealistic, although Gabriel defines his style as "controlled accident detailed by the subconscious."
In 2007, Gabriel began his first exhibitions, which captured the attention of specialized media, art lovers, and collectors. Gabriel has been selling his work since his first exhibition. His pieces have been exhibited in galleries in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, Ajijic, and Mazatlán. He has also showcased his art internationally in Art Gardens.
In 2009, Gabriel began to be recognized as a successor to the drip painting style pioneered by the New Yorker Jackson Pollock. However, in Gabriel's style, he refines his initial "controlled accidents," sometimes with glazes, sometimes with additions.
In 2018, Gabriel creates his works in large and medium formats, emphasizing colors, volumes, and textures in all of them. His themes are inspired by his admiration for nature and the universe. He also teaches private drawing and painting classes in his own studio and at schools. To date, Gabriel has sold over 190 artworks and has invitations to exhibit in galleries in New York and London.
